Catalogue Announcement: Prints by Félicien Rops

En Belgique… Pas d’artistes, excepté Rops.
— Charles Baudelaire

We are delighted to announce the upcoming release of our new catalogue devoted to the prints of Belgian artist Félicien Rops (1833-1898). The master printmaker and occasional painter spent most of his career in Paris, where he settled in 1874 and became especially celebrated among Symbolist circles. His work, often highly erotic and even pornographic, flouted conventional morals and explored such themes as Decadence, Christianity, and the occult, as well as the status of women in contemporary society.

Stay tuned for more details, including the full catalogue introduction, which will be posted next week!
